The Syphilitic Brick
It was interesting to see Dr. Ruthifer Karron's report on infectious diseases in bricks. Dr. Karron's tantalyzing findings are similar to those obtained by Jahre, Myers, Cordeiro, DeRosa and Rivera at Harvard in the mid 1970's. It would be instructive if Dr. Karron were to publish a case study of the brick that contracted syphilis.
Seeks Mythical Lands
I am mounting an expedition to find the lost borough of Brooklyn. I would appreciate hearing from anyone who has evidence that might bear on the question of its location.
Contamination
I
am writing in reference to the series of photographs of my left eyebrow,
taken daily during the period 1 June 1951 to 30 June 2001,
that I submitted to your journal recently (Letters, JIR 37:2). Unfortunately,
I have discovered, my data have become contaminated. Several of the photographs
(3 June 1961; 24 February 1979; 27 February 1979) are of my RIGHT eyebrow.
I do not yet know how this contamination occurred. An investigation is
underway. Until the results are in, there is no telling whether additional
data items are tainted. I hereby request that you do not publish any of
the data until the investigation is complete.
High Flyer Replies
I
must reply to the charges lodged against me by one of your readers, Anton
Levoisier Munch, concerning my report ("The
Mating Habits of the Rust Spotted Mid-Pacific Tyrolean Egret") which
described how I suspended myself from a kite for twelve days to observe
the behavior of birds which are notoriously averse to contact with human
beings.
The egrets I was studying nest in areas near a Fakunaouounan village in
which kite flying has been conducted in connection with the local puberty
rituals for countless generations. The Fakunaouounans in their kites and
the egrets in their nests have been co-existing harmoniously for a long,
long time.
I trust this puts the matter to rest.
