Gut-Level Music
I am writing in reference to Kevin Steiling's article, "A Survey of Body Singing." The throat singers of Tuva have been written up extensively, as have the bowel singers of Uruguy. My mother is Uruguyan and when my sisters and brothers and I were young she frequently delighted us with ragas and lullabies. I was very pleased to learn that the tradition continues.
Songs at the End
I take issue with Steiling's contention in "A Survey of Body Singing" that the sphincter singers of Normandy are "most likely following religious rituals." I suggest that Steiling consult Lepetomaine's standard textbook on the subject, "Les Chansons Curieux de Normandie."
Stop the Killing
I am concerned about the rising death toll of bacteria.
A Question of Identity
Your interview with Nobel laureate Leon Lederman was accompanied by a photograph of Lederman standing in front of a formula-encrusted blackboard. Next to him was a small doll that looks like it is supposed to be Einstein, but it could be my Uncle Peter Vlahos who also looks like he is supposed to be Einstein. Is that who the doll is supposed to look like or is the doll supposed to be Einstein, or is it supposed to be Leon Lederman who I have also heard is supposed to look like Einstein?
Why Indeed
Why don't you print more articles about sponges.
