DAVID W. WILSON
"Emily Smith insisted that I apply for membership. I discovered 'hair' to be one of the greatest teaching tools ever invented for breaking stereotypes and unfounded perceptions. Students don't know me the first day of class, but make assumptions based on the length of my hair. Later, they discover their assumptions were wrong, at which point I have a chance to break other prejudices, misperceptions or limitations to their thinking and learning about sustainable agriculture and agricultural ecology. When my hair falls out, I will have to retire and quit teaching."
