The Luxuriant Flowing Hair Club for Scientists (LFHCfS) is proud to announce the selection of its Man of the Year and Woman of the Year for the years 2002 and 2003.
He is an Italian chemist who is also a rock star. She is a French X-ray astronomer who works for NASA. Details are below.

Man of the Year
The 2002/3 LFHCfS Man of the Year is the smoldering Dr. Piero Paravidino, of Italy, who does chemical research and makes heavy metal music.

His publications include "Synthesis of Medium-Sized N-Heterocycles through RCM of Fischer-type Hydrazino Carbene Complexes." Dr. Paravidino did his graduate work in organic synthesis, at the State University of Milan, receiving his degree cum laude. Dr. Paravidino's hobbies include computers, chemistry, books, and comics. He has magnificent, luxuriant flowing hair.
With his selection as Man of the Year, Dr. Paravidino is now officially recognized as an Outstanding Head of Science.
Woman of the Year
The 2002/3 LFHCfS Woman of the Year is the sultry Ilana Harrus, Ph.D., of France, who does astronomy research in the United States.

Dr. Harrus's line of research is in supernova remnants (SNRs) and their X-ray emission; her recent publications on that subject include: "A New ASCA and ROSAT Study of the Supernova Remnant: G272.2-3.2;" "Study of the Supernova Remnant G18.95-1.1;" and "Studying the Centrally-Peaked Morphology of G272.2-3.2." Dr. Harrus got her B.S. in Physics and Mathematics from Pierre et Marie Curie University in Paris, France and her Ph.D. in Physics/Astrophysics from Columbia University; and was a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics. Dr. Harrus is a French citizen. Dr. Harrus's hobbies include writing, movies, and bicycling. She has magnificent, luxuriant flowing hair.
With her selection as Woman of the Year, Dr. Harrus is now officially recognized an Outstanding Head of Science.
